When it comes to servicing John Deere radiators & other cooling system parts, we consider ourselves experts! And we’re proud to be able to provide quick and reliable repairs for parts that often aren’t available or are on back order from the OEM.
This was the case for a recent John Deere radiator recore we did for a John Deere 8650 Tractor. This is a job we see often at West End Radiators and have a specialized approach to recore the rad so it can work more efficiently throughout the entire farming season.
So here’s a look at the John Deere radiator recore we did to save our client money and time!
West End Radiators Case Study – John Deere 8650 Tractor
Part:
This client brought the radiator from his John Deere tractor model 8650. This style of radiator is found in John Deere’s from 1982-1988. We can manufacture new aftermarket rads for the following OEM part numbers:
RE24732
RE21559
- AR93356
Problem:
The problem was that the core was leaking and no longer working efficiently. The other issue was that the client would be waiting months (if not longer) to try and get a replacement core from the OEM. Plus, it would be very expensive to source a replacement for an older model of John Deere like this.
Solution:
Our team of shop technicians and mechanics recored the existing rad with a new aftermarket John Deere 8650 heavy-duty copper/brass core.
We started by disassembling the radiator, core and bolt-ons.
We then manufactured a core with larger fin spacing to reduce the amount of dust and debris that would get stuck while the tractor is in the fields.
From there, we did a fresh paint job and reassembled the entire radiator including adding new gaskets.
Recoring the existing rad like this also saved our client hundreds of dollars compared to if they had to buy brand new from John Deere.
To ensure the core holds up to the test, we provided our client with a 1 year warranty.
“This is the type of job we do all the time at West End Rad. If the customer wanted to get a new core from John Deere, they’d be waiting months whereas we recored the rad within a few short days.”
